Angola Uncharted Safari pioneered community-based tourism in Angola and is engaging local communities to become involved in tourism. Bairro Mbalachavo - Mavinga National Park<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

This isolated village is situated on the northern perimeter of the Mavinga Park<\/a> under the beautiful riparian forest of the southern perimeter of the Lomba River. During the armed conflict between 1985 and 1988, the village was at the centre of one of the biggest land battles on the African continent.\u00a0 Known in those years as Lomba Log Base.\u00a0 Today this peaceful community act as the custodians of the pristine Lomba River Ecosystem. We do visit the community often with tourists, where you can indulge in some retail therapy, buying their handcrafted souvenirs and knives made from old military scrap metal.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Bairro Angelino Ilunga - Headwaters of the Cuatir river, near Menongue<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

A village situated close to the crash site of a FIAZ Mirage jet from the South African Air force, which got shot down during the war on 20 February 1988. The area is being kept clean by the villagers and they are the custodians of this historical site where Major Ed Every found his final resting place. We do request self-drive overlanders to contact us.\u00a0 We will provide information on how to find the site and on fees that should be paid to the village.\u00a0 This is in support of our community-based tourism initiative.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

A proud village and today the custodians of the battlefield. During months of intense battles and bombardments in 1988 when South African forces clashed with the Angolan forces, the villagers refused to be relocated to safe areas and survived to tell the story. The village is currently assisted and gaining financially by creating jobs with our most recent campsite development. We do assist self-drive tourists with information about the area and urge them to use this campsite, contributing to the proud community in the Tumpo triangle.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

We currently support 15 families from the Savate community by employing them at the Cuatir Conservation project<\/a>.\u00a0 Here they are involved with community-based tourism activities and conservation of the area.\u00a0 These humble people are very close to our hearts.\u00a0 They are hardworking honest people who embrace the opportunities that were presented to them.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

This is the communities of the Himba and Kuvale people, as well as the small-scale communities that gravitate around these two pastoralist populations. Inclusive of the Twa, Hakaona, Tjimba, Kwisi and Kwepe communities. At Chibia we support the Mwila community.
We interact with the villagers of these different areas. Donating financially to the headman of the villages that benefit from the introduction of tourism.
